Today my family messaged me telling some things to be prepared with. They told me to bring a Nanny Bag. They told me to pack a bag with anything I might want since I am spending 11 hours at their house everyday. I thought this was a great idea so I thought I would share with you guys what I am putting in my Nanny Bag.
Phone Charger
I don't know about you guys, but my phone dies... all the time. Even if your phone has amazing battery, a phone charger is always a great idea. You never know how long you will need your phone and it is an important resource when you are a nanny in order to contact the parents. This will allow you to make sure your phone is always at 100% in case something bad were to happen. Also, you can actually use your phone while your watching the kids... its not banned. |
Sweatpants
Yes... it is summer and hot but you never know when the kids will want to watch movies or just hang out. Sweatpants are the fastest way to get comfortable. Plus I am there at 7:30 in the morning... dressing in sweats while I drink my coffee sounds perfect. Trust me... by the end of the day you are going to want to relax in your sweats while you watch the kids. And if your lucky like me, 2:4 of my kids have nap time. |
THIS IS A MUST! You never know what to expect with kiddos. Cooking may turn into a messy situation, rain, mud, crafts.... everything has a chance of making a mess of the clothes you are wearing. A change of clothes will make it so that you can make it the rest of the day not covered in yuck. Plus, if the outfit you begin the day wearing isnt ideal for the activities of the day, you can change. |
Change of Clothes
First Aid Kit
Obviously it does not have to be a complex first aid kit, but having band-aids and Advil available is always a good option. Surprise headache? Fixed. Also the parents will most likely tell you where the medical supplies are, but in an emergency or just an accidentally cut or scrape, it might be easier to get stuff out of your bag then digging through the families supplies. |
Tampons and Pads
For me, I am a nanny all summer... calculate that out its about 3 months. That means about 3 periods. The worst thing ever would to be stuck without anything with children at a house that is not yours. Be prepared and keep some in your nanny bag because keeps some at the house is easier than refilling everyday. |
