- Give yourself enough time to eat lunch. don't schedule courses back to back the whole day. Your stomach will be growling by 12:30 if you do.
- Meredith will tell you to definitely not take an 8AM. You might think that it will be easy to get up that early because that's what you did in high school. But take it from Meredith, just don't do it.
- Try to have most of your classes in the morning. It's much better to get them out of the way early and have time to relax afterwards.
- Find out the location of each of your classes and make sure you can get there in the allotted amount of time
- Look up the professors on ratemyprofessor.com If you have the choice between a mean professor and a nice one, and the classes are both at the same time, you'll be happy you looked at ratemyprofessor.
- Make a list of all the possible times you could take each particular course. Then you'll have all your possibilities in front of you. It will be easier to cross off the ones that don't work or the ones that you like.
- Use excel to make a color coded schedule for yourself. It makes it a lot easier to have a visual of what your week will look like rather than just trying to picture it all in your head.
- Have at least one class that you're genuinely interested in. It will make going to class a lot easier and more fun!
In high school you didn't get to choose who your teacher was or when your classes were. In college, you have much more freedom to make your own schedule the way you like it. But it's hard to know what to do with all this freedom at first. So I've made a list of tips on how to make the perfect schedule for YOU!
