So, this year I got a 3.0 as my GPA. You see, there are some people who would think that that was a horrible GPA, but throughout high school I actually had a GPA in the 2.0 range throughout. It wasn't until my senior year I ended up with exactly a 3.0. But, it isn't because I slack off, or I am not interested in learning. It is because school isn't for me. And it isn't for everyone. I'm pretty much a walking contradiction. School isn't for me, but I want to spend my entire life in one as a teacher. That's why I want to be a teacher. I want to be able to show students that A's aren't the only things that matter. B's and C's are good grades too. Beating yourself up over your grades will just make it harder for you. In reality, school just isn't for you. Just try your hardest, and do your work. You will be rewarded. In school though, its not just about getting good grades and a good GPA. It's about making memories....So, heres what my mom has told me about "smarts" BEING BOOK SMART:You're good at school, you get good grades. Getting A's aren't hard for you to do, and you can remember a lot of things when you take tests. 4.0s and GPAs around that are usually what you have. But at the same time, you aren't very observant though when it comes to the streets. You don't notice certain things that are happening around you. BEING STREET SMART:School isn't always your thing. But, that weird guy you see walking? You notice him, and are watching everything he does to make sure he doesn't try to shove you into a van and take off with you. You are also more observant with things like watching before you cross the road and things like that. Love,
Meredith
