So, this year I got a 3.0 as my GPA. You see, there are some people who would think that that was a horrible GPA, but throughout high school I actually had a GPA in the 2.0 range throughout. It wasn't until my senior year I ended up with exactly a 3.0. But, it isn't because I slack off, or I am not interested in learning. It is because school isn't for me. And it isn't for everyone. I'm pretty much a walking contradiction. School isn't for me, but I want to spend my entire life in one as a teacher. That's why I want to be a teacher. I want to be able to show students that A's aren't the only things that matter. B's and C's are good grades too. Beating yourself up over your grades will just make it harder for you. In reality, school just isn't for you. Just try your hardest, and do your work. You will be rewarded. In school though, its not just about getting good grades and a good GPA. It's about making memories....So, heres what my mom has told me about "smarts" BEING BOOK SMART:You're good at school, you get good grades. Getting A's aren't hard for you to do, and you can remember a lot of things when you take tests. 4.0s and GPAs around that are usually what you have. But at the same time, you aren't very observant though when it comes to the streets. You don't notice certain things that are happening around you. BEING STREET SMART:School isn't always your thing. But, that weird guy you see walking? You notice him, and are watching everything he does to make sure he doesn't try to shove you into a van and take off with you. You are also more observant with things like watching before you cross the road and things like that. Love,
Meredith

When starting college you pick a major and the college provides a list of classes required to graduate with that degree. THERE ARE OTHER CLASSES OUT THERE. The list is limited to what is needed but not to what is offered.
Yes, college courses can be expensive and that is something to think about, but taking one or two classes that you are interested in can completely change your views. My first semester of college I took a sign language class. It wasn't require for my major but I have always wanted to learn. That class was amazing. I loved it. After taking this class I even looked into a Communication Disorders minor. Taking a class outside of the required can open your eyes to other options or sides to your degree. College can become long and hard, so having a fun class can be a relief. A lot of people take bowling or tennis for the hell of it. Have an interest in dinosaurs? Take a paleontology class. Like space? Take an astronomy class. There are classes for everything even if they aren't on your "list of classes". Taking a class that is random and fun can help your brain take a break from the repetitiveness of your major. Your brain needs a break sometimes. College can be fun... so have fun learning. Just think about it... It is an option... -Xoxo Piper Do you think I could go on America's Got Talent as a donkey intepretator?I want to become a professional categorizer. So, you probably read I had a crush on a guy named David in our hall. David is...Well...David is a lot of things... DAVID IS... BuffHas some really nice absreally bad at English, but somehow got better grades in the class then I did...is HOTobsessed with working outOne of those people who clearly don't have a strong subject, he was definitely one of those kids who liked gym the bestLiterally loves food, but only eats chicken and potatoesCan be intimidating if you aren't already friends with himSometimes awkwardOh yea, I forgot a big one... HE WANTS TO BE A PROFESSIONAL BODY BUILDEROk, so here we go...let me tell you the story of how all of this happened... So David had lived in our hall all year, but we had always just known of him, and knew he was the one who chose to cook every night instead of eating on campus. Well, second semester I ended up in his English class. One day we were in the computer lab, and I awkwardly had some eye contact with him, I texted Piper and Ellie...That conversation went like this: Me: We're in the computer lab and I just had literally the most awoke taco eye contact with David. Like, literally super awkward. Piper: Lol Me: We looked at each other of at leash 5 seconds. That is way too long for eye contact Piper: eye sex? Me: No, it wasn't eye sex, ok maybe like 3 seconds now that you mention it. Then Ellie sent a really great poster about STDs from the health clinic, but that doesn't have anything to do with the story... Me: No, but it was really awkward cause HIS BACK IS TO ME and I look over at my teacher talking to someone else, and aHE WAS LOOKING IN MY DIRECTION Piper: HE IS PRETTY THOUGH. I SHIP MAVID. Ellie: omg I love that MAVID ALL THE WAY Me: NO DO NOT SHIP. THERE WILL BE NO SHIPPING OF ANY KIND, TO ANYWHERE Piper: BUT HIS ABS MEREDITH. I COULD GRATE CHEESE ON THOSE. It went on for a little longer but thats basically the parts that matter. So anyway, I had made it my mission to become friends with David, because he was in my class and I just decided it was my mission. To be honest, I didn't think this challenge would actually be completed and successful. Anyway, there was one night where we act an RHA event and David is in RHA. Well, he actually ended up hanging out at our table and talking to us. Well, it was more like making fun of me and the fact that I came late to class everyday (I had an 8am, 9am, 10 am and 11am on Monday, Wednesday Fridays. My 8am was across campus from my 9am). Anyway, the next day in our English class, he was sitting next to me. It used to be an empty desk in between us, but that day, HE WAS AT THE EMPTY DESK. NORMAL DAY:DAY AFTER DAVID AND STARTED TALKING:He literally slept through every class. Like, I mean there were days I had to contemplate waking him up, but then he woke up... So anyway, after that we started to become friends more and more. Okay, lets talk about me having a crush on David...
When I started talking about David, it was just a friend thing, and it was jut my goal to be my friend. When Piper and Ellie started "shipping" us, I liked the idea of someone talking about me and someone attractive dating. Yes, we all knew it wasn't going to happen, but it sounded good just imagining it, and having someone imagining it too. So, I basically started liking him because everyone else started to make me like him. It took me a little while, until i realized I didn't like him. There were a few times that I really thought about how it wasn't fun liking him and having a crush.... ~When he talked about working out ~When he continued to talk about working out ~When you couldn't change the subject about working out ~When he made us leave dinner early because he needed to cook ~When he has to leave to eat his eggs, because he is on a very strict schedule ~When he talked about how his brain "overheats" when it gets too loud in a room ~When he used us for things he needed And then, I finally decided, it was so much easier not having a crush. Boys are stupid. And, that is why I am happy, not dealing with stupid boys. Love, Meredith Ok, so you probably read Piper's little update on all of us in the room of 125. So, I've decided I am going to tell you all about what I have learned throughout college, but because there is a hell of a lot I have learned over the course of only a semester, I am going to separate it up because I have learned about things from boys, to friendship to everything in between. So, keep up on my little blog posts and I'll try to keep them as interesting as possible.
When moving into college you have your car packed to the brim with stuff you think you need like a shower caddy and 12 boxes of ramen... But just remember over an entire year... You accumulate shit. Shit that you don't even remember buying, or you brought from over spring break. Winter coats that you thought you might need during the cold days of April... Just wait until its move out day and your car is stuffed and you still have 12 boxes left to pack... Here's My Tips for Not Having the OverPacking Struggle: 1. Take Stuff Home OvertimeUnless you're like our friend Blake, your likely to go home every month or so... Take stuff that you don't need home. Major breaks: Thanksgiving/Fall Break- take home your shorts and tank tops... replace them with coats and jeans Winter Break- take home any clothes you don't where or any items you realized you don't need... Spring Break- take home coats and jeans... bring back shorts and tank tops This pattern will help you not let the seasonal clothes pile up. Plus at the end of the year, shorts and tank tops take up much less room than jeans and coats 2. Don't Keep ShitLittle things like boxes of granola bars or any extra soaps just take up room in the car. Yes, you paid for them... and you want to get your moneys worth... but little things cause clutter and it can be hard to take the little things home. At our college, they set up donations bins in the lobby of the dorms for the little things like left over roles of paper towels or tshirts that don't fit. Do the right thing... and donate. Random shit can do a lot for people who need it and it opens up plenty of room in your car. 3. Pack... Don't Pile.We are college students. We hate taking precious time to fold clothes and pack properly. But that is the key to getting more into the little space you have. Folding clothes and rolling pants can get more to fit in a suitcase. Stacking notebooks and binders can help minimize the extra space in boxes. Cramming stuff into the car can work, but packing into containers ahead of time can help organize the car. Put breakable together and place socks around them to help add padding but also save space in packing your clothes. Think logically. 4. Finals Week... Its a Week of Studying and PackingYou have an entire week of testing and studying and I promise you will get tired of it. Take a break and begin packing the little things. Instead of packing everything last minute right before you check out for summer, start packing the week before. Packing things like tshirts you wont wear that week or the cups that you don't need anymore can make it easier to understand what all you do have to back. I started packing a few days before and that's when I realized I did not have enough containers or bags. This gave me a heads up and I found boxes around to help back the rest. If I would have waited until last minute... I would have been screwed.
-Xoxo Piper This post has been in our draft box ever since we started the blog. Just a sad little post title. No text at all. I've known I wanted to write a post about this, but I haven't had time and other posts have gotten in the way. So here we go. The Pros and Cons List is finally being posted. I absolutely love pro and cons lists. It helps me to organize all my thoughts that are running around in my head onto paper. It's great for when I have no idea what to do about a decision. When I first thought about dating Ethan again back I made many pros and cons lists because I kept thinking of more positives and negatives. At one point we had a Piper, Meredith, Lillian, Liam, and Blake all in our room helping me to make one of the lists. That's one of the reasons I love my friends. They deal with all my crazy lists. :)
I am very serious in my pros and cons lists because I want to make sure I know every aspect, good and bad, of a decision. Sometimes we do have fun with the lists though. I was looking through old notebooks the other day and found a really funny one that made me laugh out loud. So don't think that pros and cons lists have to be serious all the time. It can be really fun to make them too! <3 Ellie Hi Guys! it's been a long time! I know Piper has already told you everything about these past few months, so I won't repeat any of that. I'm so excited it's summer though! Summer means more free time and more free time means more blogging. Yay! I can't wait! So make sure to be on the lookout for more exciting posts soon!
<3 Ellie Burger HeavenMy mom and I took a trip to the big town near where we live and shopped. When looking for something to eat... one word came to mind: burger. We were starving for that greasy burger and fries taste. And then we saw it. The cutest diner look restaurant: Five Guys. The menu is simply and easy to order.
1. Choose Hamburger or Cheeseburger 2. Pick your toppings... all are free. 3. I REPEAT ALL TOPPINGS ARE FREE AND YOU CAN GET AS MANY AS YOU WANT! 4. Don't forget fries and drinks. That is it. Its that simple and yet crazy amazing. While you're waiting for your order to be called, enjoy some free peanuts. That's right. Shelled peanuts you crack yourself. Mmmm. Not to mention the soda machine is one that has hundreds of flavors. Choose the soda and add the flavorings. I seriously cannot describe the deliciousness of the burger I had. It was seriously the best burger I have ever had. I normally can't eat an entire burger but I did at Five Guys. There are restaurants in 47 states and Canada. There is bound to be one near you or if you go to a bigger city... find one. These burgers are something you have to try -Xoxo Piper WE NEED TO CATCH UP!So, I could go on and on apologizing for not blogging... as could the other girls... but I'm not going to. Its extremely hard to find time anymore. Spring semester flew by... Highlights?
